£8m lifeLeisure centre opens in Stockport

BY Tom Walker

 |
 |
Woodley Sports Centre in Stockport, Greater Manchester, has re-opened its doors as lifeLEISURE Stockport Sports Village following an £8m development and refurbishment.
Facilities at the centre include a new 27,000sq ft (2,500sq m) health club with a 100-station gym, supplied by Life Fitness and a number of football and tennis facilities.
Significant investment has been made to install a number of floodlit Optima 3G football pitches - the same that are used at Barcelona FC's Joan Gamper training facility.
Malcolm McPhail, MD at lifeLEISURE, said: "We have been working on the project for a few years now to ensure that the centre would reopen as a premium football and fitness facility.
"We are looking forward to welcoming people from all around Stockport, as the facility now offers something for everyone, including recreational and competitive football, leagues, state of the art gym and the latest aerobics classes and kids classes. The centre will also be an additional campus for Stockport College for their sports courses and offers conference and banqueting facilities."
